Girl Can’t Catch A Break Pt. 2

At the beginning of the month I posted about Courtney’s trials with being sick.

Well guess what.

Here I am again.

Courtney still has not caught a break…

Waiting in the Emergency Room for some pain medication!

May 8th Courtney was at her friends house across the alley playing in their backyard. Larry, a friend, & I were sitting in my living room talking about stuff and Larry mentioned that we should get dinner started. So, I went out to the freezer, grabbed whatever meat I was cooking & set it on the kitchen counter. I bend down to the cupboard to grab a pan out and set it on the stove. Turn back around to wash my hands and I look up because I saw someone in the yard. It was my neighbor with Courtney. She had her arm around Courtney’s shoulder & they were both holding her hand.

Blood was everywhere.

I run outside and grab her and look at her hand and yell for Larry to grab the keys.

We needed to get to the hospital!

Turns out she was standing on the side of the neighbors trampoline and was holding onto the top of their chain link dog kennel. She slipped and fell while slicing her middle finger/palm open on the top of the chain link fence.

She was a ball of nerves at the hospital. Crying in pain and scared of what was to come. She knew stitches were needed.

They hooked her up to an IV & got her some pain meds, antibiotic, & something to calm her nerves.

When it was time for stitches, poor girl didn’t know what was coming. I had to explain to her how the numb your wound. She was NONE to thrilled. But I have to say that she took it like a trooper. After the first initial pokes of the needle, a few screams of severe pain, she was good to go. Once they started stitches she was cracking jokes with the nurse.

11 stitches later she got to go home.

It was HELL trying to get her to understand not to use that hand. It took a lot to get her to not use that hand and she still used it. It didn’t heal very well but they took the stitches out Monday & let it heal the rest on its own.

She is excited after almost a month, she can now ride her bike and do everything normally. I would share a picture, but its not cute & I don’t want to scare anyone. It’s pretty gross.

Now, I just wait to see what else is in store for us.
