Please excuse the lack of pictures, I am in the middle of moving and the planner is tucked in a box. Somewhere…..
Every once in awhile, Life gets chaotic and things don’t go as planned. We either have stuff that some how overlaps or we forget about. Or the kids have 45138791 things that they have going on and we are expected to keep up with it.
Oh who am I kidding.
Life is chaotic all the time.
The truth is, I have always tried to remember things. Anyone who knows me personally knows that my memory is TERRIBLE. I could seriously be handed something and set it down, go back for it a couple minutes later, and not know where I just set it. I have been known to even wander around because I cannot remember what I was going to do. Hence why I need to write things down.
I was given the chance to review the Apologia Ultimate Homeschool Planner.
Now, these planners were originally designed for those who homeschool. But, I figured why not give them a shot for someone who DOESNT homeschool at all. Someone who just needs to schedule, LIFE.
I do have to say that I was intimidated by its LARGE size. But you know what, that is helpful to me because I wont loose it (hahaha). But this large size (not only do I write big) has a LOT of space to plan EVERYTHING. It is seriously amazing.
Here is a list of features that I personally LOVE:
- Pockets! The front and back cover have pockets to store loose papers, receipts, handouts, pamphlets, etc. This is GOOD for me because if I have something planned, I can keep the information RIGHT with the planner and it is safe.
- Family Goals: There is a section inside to write down family goals. Which I think is awesome. To many families now a days are disjointed and disconnected from each other. I love this because its documented and is always available to keep us on track.
- Weekly Planning. There is a nice weekly planning grid. Its big and spacious so you have plenty of room to write things out. It is also fully blank so you can fill it in as you think it would work best for you. Which is good. Nothing like getting a planner that is predated. I personally hate that. I also love the inspirational quotes that are on these pages. Along with the sections to write appointments or stuff you need to get.
Now, like I said, this planner was originally designed for those who homeschool. It is easily adaptable to those who don’t. But for those that do homeschool who are reading this, will be please to know that there are lots of resources listed inside, a section to keep track of your childs grades, a yearly grid broken down by day to plan out what I believe would be a years worth of goals, a place to record field trips taken, also the weekly planning can be done to include a weekly plan for each child.
I also got to review the student planner and the teen planner. Both of my children (whom are NOT homeschooled) loved these because they looked “cool” (crazy kids)
Again, the student planner was designed for homeschoolers where the parent can write down all their tasks and the student has something to follow along with and know what assignments are coming, and are easily able to keep track of their progress by marking off assignments that are done. My daughter (whom is 10) just used it as a normal school planner and she liked it much better than the planner that her school gives her every year. Inside it has study tips & fun facts/trivia. It also has a nice durable cover with awesome spiral binding.
The Teen Planner I think was my favorite of the two kids planners. My son who is a 10th grader loved the design and the layout of it. He also used it as a normal school planner and liked it much better than the school issued planner. This planner is very helpful to teens. It helps them keep track of not only all their assignments but also their classes/credits so that they know how many they have left for graduation. HA! What teen isn’t excited for their high school years to be over. Now they have it at a glance. Like the student planner, it also has study tips. My favorite part of this planner is the SAT words that are listed across the top of all the pages. I love that. I actually sat down and read all the words running along the top. There is also a college admissions timeline & Scholarship tips!
To say these planners are awesome is an understatement. My words seriously couldn’t do them justice because they are designed well and have so many aspects I could never dream to have at my fingers and I am so thankful to have the chance to review these products.
The Ultimate Homeschool planner is $28 and the Student & Teen planners are $19. Totally. Worth. Every. Penny! Especially if you are a hardcore homeschool. I would totally recommend these to any MOM!!
